Ranked Choice Voting Casts a Dark Cloud on the Foundation of our Republic!
Ranked Choice Voting Failures
The best argument against Ranked Choice Voting is its own track record. In over 100 years’ experience with RCV in America, from FL to AK, among all jurisdictions that have tried it, OVER 85% END UP REPEALING IT!
It is a system where losers win and winners lose. In the infamous 2022 Alaska Special Congressional race, the fourth place primary candidate, earning merely one-third the votes of the front-runner, ended up winning in the General Election thanks to the mysterious machinations of RCV. The Open Jungle Primary had 48 contestants further complicating the election process
It violates the principle of one-person, one-vote in place since the 1960s and deserves to be challenged in federal court. The complicated system disenfranchises elderly, low income, minority and ESL voters.
It creates more problems than it solves. Voters lose confidence in the system and stop voting altogether. Colorado does not need to try RCV before it enshrines it into our statutes. Let’s learn from the experience of others and join the ten other states that have BANNED RANKED CHOICE VOTING.
Don’t stop talking about it! This is not only about the political party system. It’s about preserving out vote and our voice. Ultimately, it’s about the freedom to choose our own leadership.
