Jungle Primary

Ranked Choice Voting begins with an all-candidate primary. All candidates who petition on to the ballot will show up on a single primary ballot. Republicans, Democrats, Independents and Third-Party Candidates will all appear on the ballot. Voters will be asked to choose one candidate out of the long list (In Alaska, 48 candidates were on the ballot). The Top 4 Candidates from the Primary will appear on the General Election ballot. There is no limit on how many candidates from each party may move on.

Ranked Choice Voting

Following the Jungle All-Candidate Primary, Candidates will be asked to rank the four candidates that made it through the primary in order of preference 1st-4th.

If no candidate has achieved 50% after the first count. The fourth place candidate will be eliminated and their votes will be assigned to the voters 2nd choice. This process continues until a candidate achieves 50% or there is one candidate remaining.

Ballots are TRASHED for not following the rules.
Elderly, Low Income, Minorities, ESL fall victim.
Candidates chosen by a false “majority.”
Complicated races take days or weeks to call.
Voters lose confidence.
Voters quit voting altogether.

WARNING

Colorado voters need to wake up and stop this ultimate power grab from taking away our right to choose our own leadership. #131 will be marketed as a means to “modernize our elections and improve the quality of candidates.” It does neither. It is a reckless political experiment that will reduce Colorado voters to serfs of the state. If the measure passes by a simple majority, our party system and the marketplace of ideas that we know as the caucus and assembly system will be gone forever. Few will be able to administer the complicated process and questioning it will be impossible. It further removes the vote from the people and places it into the hands of government to determine the outcome.
